  7.   SofTalk is a new speech synthesizer that can be used on all Amiga 
  8. operating systems.  No hardware is required.  SofTalk replaces the
  9. narrator device and translator library on Amiga operating systems
  10. v1.0 thru v2.04, and should be compatible with most application programs
  11. that used the original Amiga speech capability.  SofTalk supports 
  12. most of the operational features of the original Amiga speech system,
  13. and provides a number of new vocal characteristics.

  15.   Includes "installer" and  "remover" programs, a demonstration program,
  16. and documentation file.  For convenient installation, it is recommended 
  17. that the SofTalk.lha archive be uncompressed (preserving the directory
  18. structure in the archive) on a dedicated diskette having the name SofTalk:
  19. Alternately, uncompress the archive to a hard drive directory to which you
  20. can Assign the name "SofTalk:" while you run the "installer" program.

  22.   SofTalk is a file-based synthesizer, and both the translation of text
  23. to speech symbols, and the generation of vocal sound from these symbols,
  24. can be changed by editing files.  A basic English text translation
  25. is provided, and three different voice files are included.  Application
  26. programs exist to edit these files or create completely new files.
  27. Persons interested in the subject of computer speech will find that
  28. SofTalk provides a capability for home computer users to do meaningful
  29. work in this field.
